Trial Results (overall) 2022
We have now completed all 4 trials for selecting our International team for 2023, which were held on Lough Annagh on 9th April 2022, Lough Corrib on 13th August 2022, Lough Sheelin on 18th September 2022 and Holy Lake on 12th November 2022.

The Irish Ladies Flyfishing Team for 2023 consists of 12 team members and 2 reserves, determined as follows:
1. The top two rods in the 2022 International will automatically qualify for the 2023 team. These are Anne Kerrin (1st Rod) and Ruth Mettler (2nd Rod)
2. The remaining 10 places on the team are filled from the 4 trials held in 2022, the best 3 trials of each angler to count. The first 9 of these 10 places are awarded to:
Julie Gerry, Linda Straghan, Ruth Arrell, Madeline Kelly, Jennifer Casey, Julie McKeever, Mary McGovern, Debbie Connolly, Dorrie Gibbons
3. There is a tie at 32 points for the 10th place, between Rebecca Moffit and Almha McDonnell. In accordance with our constitution, rule 11 (Team Selection Process) section iv, if two anglers tie for either 1st place or 10th place (last place on the team) then a tiebreaker comes into operation as follows: (a) The angler with the greatest number of fish from their best three trials gains the advantage.
This means the final place on the team is awarded to Rebecca Moffit who had 5 fish, and the 1st reserve position is awarded to Almha McDonnell, who had 2 fish.
4. There is also a tie at 30 points for the 2nd reserve position, between Elizabeth Dermott and Ruth Mettler. However, as Ruth Mettler has already qualified for the team as 2nd Rod in the 2022 international, the 2nd reserve position is awarded to Elizabeth Dermott.
Also according to our constitution, section 8, Team Captain, states 'The Captain for a particular year, shall be the lady who achieves the highest number of points from 3 out of the 4 trials used to select the team for that year, and who also has ‘International Experience’. Therefore, the position of Team Captain falls to Julie Gerry, who meets this criteria.
We congratulate those who have attained a place on our International Team for 2023, and thank all who participated in our trials. We also thank all the fishing clubs, boat operators and supporting personnel who helped us in running such successful trials.
