oughs Corrib, Mask, Carra, Conn, Cullin, Arrow and Sheelin are some of the best wild brown trout fisheries in Europe and are collectively known as the Great Western Lakes. Inland Fisheries Ireland wishes to develop a long term management plan for these lakes to address many of the factors currently impacting on the ecological wellbeing of native fish stocks in their catchments.

Inland Fisheries Ireland have prepared a Draft Long Term Management Plan for the Great Western Lakes and now wish to consult with stakeholders to get their feedback on the approach proposed.  This public consultation opened on Tuesday, 09/08/2022 at 10:00am and it closes on Tuesday, 20/09/2022 at 5:00pm.
