ILFA Outing on Lough Lene

LOUGH LENE OUTING ON SAT 11TH SEPTEMBER 2021

A day of fishing for fun took place on Lough Lene, Collinstown, Co Westmeath on Sat 11th September 2021.  Our team captain, Almha McDonnell, organised this day out on Lough Lene in conjunction with her own club, Dublin Trout Anglers Association.  The day was well attended by anglers from both DTTA and ILFA, and the boats were managed by experienced boat handlers.  Those with limited experience were matched with an experienced angler, so it waas a great opportunity to fish with a new partner, learn  new skills and have some fun.  For those new to the lake it was also an opportunity to learn from someone with knowledge and experience of the water.

The weather was ideal - dry and warm, some clouds and a light breeze.  The group met up by the Pumphouse for lunch and shared much the same stories of fish moving but few caught.  We returned to the water renewed and several encountered fish during the afternoon.  While it was a fun day, Almha, provided prizes for a small competition and we had worthy winners.

It was a fun day, relaxed and cheerful, with pleasant company and good fun.  Thanks to Almha, brilliantly assisted by her father Cathal, to the members of DTAA who made us so welcome and to all who partook to make this a truly enjoyable day.  Definitely should be an annual event, and here's to a repeat next year!
